Chose to do this one in B&W as it suits the starkness of all those chimney pots and somehow speaks of the era in which they were built (late 1800s) The alert will recognise the lamp-post... Taken with the 'Nik' on B&W mode, standard focus.
A chimney pot question. Is there a separate fireplace at the end of each pot? i.e., a separate flue travelling from a lot of fire places. Or, more simply, why are there so many chimney pots on a chimney?
Hari OM Bill - actually only once (as the focus); they line the forefront at Rothesay so hard to avoid!! At least the pots are symmetrical in their higgledy-piggledy!!
Sylvia - thanks!
Joanne - good question!! At this time three would have been one main fireplace in every flat in the block, so yes they each represent a flue... posh places would have had a fireplace in the main bedroom too!!
You like that lamppost, seen it in a lot of your photos. Pity the far chimney pots are not even as well
ReplyDeleteI love the lamppost, too! And a great shot as always!! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

You are so right, B&W is perfect for this scene. I love the composition of your shot too.
