TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE

...the last rose of summer?

Even during monsoon, our little rose bush by the front door has been managing to bloom.
Taken with the 'Nik' on macro and B&W mode.

TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY EIGHT

Last Thursday - the day when things can go haywire, or are just plain peculiar!

A dieffenbachia variety which I have WLPGd; cyanotype then played around with light and tone.  Not quite negative, but getting there!

Hari Om everyone!  Welcome to the 'Wings on Wednesday'  linky, a mid-week spot for those folks who have 'wings' piccies!

This is YAM's very own bird specific theme, so please, if you do link up, all I ask is that you stick to the following:
1)   Your link should be directly to a bird picture/s ONLY and does not have to be 'professional'. Please be aware that other subjects will have their links deleted.  General postings can link at Tuesday's Me-Now-Views over at My Meno!
2)   Your blog should be non-commercial.  Whilst I respect your right to earn money, this is for hobbyists to network.  Please know that I will remove any overtly commercial connection.
3)   Please put a link-back/shout out to MY TAKE as a matter of courtesy.  Thank you!

In that regard, I would like to say HI and Thanks to NC Sue for putting up a great Linkys page.

Even if you never tried photographing a bird ever before, give it a go!  Let's have fun and your comments will also be appreciated.

This link will remain open until midnight Friday, Mumbai time.

It has to be said, Edinburgh is a place which oozes symmetry at every corner and this New Town architecture just sings with it!  Taken with the Uniden.

"Okay, they said just drop into a dive..."

"...then spread the wings....  WHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

LAUNCHPAD:
Parts two and three - last week we saw the fledgling looking a tad pensive as it perched on the thin branch.  Here he goes for broke.

Not only was this young Black Kite successful, but YAM finally got some half way decent shots of a take-off!

Taken with the 'Nik' on sports auto and 16x optical zoom.

TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT

Monday's Critters

Just a random three from the Uniden library.

Top two from my Aussie garden; this little spinner was barely bigger than a 10c coin (...dime, maybe, in US terms, or 20p in UK)...

The Purple-rumped Sunbird is a hummingbird and this is the male enjoying nectar up at Kolwan.

Just before monsoon hit, when the sunrise could still be seen.  Taken with the 'Nik' on auto and 5x optical zoom.

TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY SIX

Saturday Symmetry

The IIT campus at Powai.  Taken with the 'Nik' on auto everything but it was one of the first photos made with it and the fully extended 26x opt and 4x digi zoom without any support make this a less than sharp image. Still nice shapes for my symmetry theme though...  It's all learning!

With the tide out, many folk were on the causeway to the Mosque in the Sea, Mumbai.  Meanwhile, in the shade, let the sleeping dogs lie!!

Taken with the 'Nik' on manual auto focus at 100ISO.

I have entered this in the meme The Thursday Challenge.

..."over here chaps!"...

Taken furtively on the Uniden.  (This dear little camera which has been in almost constant use for nearly six years, is starting to play up and is not the sharpest tool - but still far too handy to let go!)

Please do visit BOZO and also pop over HERE to read more on the J's.

The Bharadwaj (bronze-winged or common coucal) is a regular round these parts and quite the character.  Made several decent shots of this one which you will see in due course.  Taken with the 'Nik' on auto everything and this was at 10x optical zoom.

...sorry it's so small, but was taken on the Minolta at low resolution and enlarging caused blurring.

What's the lioness saying?

"Honey, if all you can do all day is roar at the guests, you can find yourself another hostess!"

TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR

Monday's Critters

The monsoon took a break for almost a whole day and lots of critters came out to play...
this was the first time in my two years here that I had seen two squirrels together - and HOW!  They were quite literally 'gambolling' along the fence and in out of the creeper.
The female faces camera and the male is clearly evidenced at the tale end - but also by the more reddish fur on the face.  I got several shots with the 'Nik' on varying lengths of zoom; this one I had to boost in WLPG, thus losing some of the clarity, but it was a moment of pure joy for which I was willing to sacrifice photographic pride!!

To enjoy a more cheeky snap  of the happy couple, pop over here.  Don't forget to visit BOZO and why not check out my newly refreshed 'filing' system over on the right, where all my fave blogs have been put into categories to suit my viewing public.  &*>

The 'dome' of the Jagadishwara Mandir is, of course, the Sivalingam.  The three parallel marks remind the vedantin of Viveka, Vairagya and Samadhi-shatsampatti; Discrimination, Detachment and the Six Keys to Clear Living.
Taken with the 'Nik' on auto everything and zoomed 5x optical.
