All I could think of for this one was 'Zephyr'... as represented by the moon peeking through foliage...

I do hope you have enjoyed this breakaway from this blog's usual offerings, with lots more words and pictures each day. It has been fun trawling the archives and remembering the land of my heart.

Tomorrow, normal service will resume. Thanks for coming along on the Zany ride!!!

Yellow is a dominant colour anywhere. Yellow and green are the colours of the Australian national sports teams and the government. Representing the green bush and yellow wattle flower. Wattle blossoms in late winter into spring and fills the air with a citrus scent. No good for those of us with asthma but lovely all the same!

Not wattle - just gorgeous and it grew on my fence.

Wattle, and lots of it.

Always a challenge, this letter... so let's stretch it a bit and talk about the eXotic nature of Australia. Here, we have some eXtreme street lighting in Noosa Heads, Queensland, taken from a moving vehicle, adding to the dazzlement!

Let's follow this up with some eXtreme outdoor deco in the Kuring-gai National Park... taking fly-tipping to eXistential levels!!! (Yes, that IS a bathroom sink...)

The Waratah is the state flower of NSW - which I proudly call my home state. These are readily available as hybrids for gardens now - but to find one in the Wild is extra special. This one was deep in the Belanglo State Forest, just south of Sydney.

As it's my birthday, am going to indulge in sharing one of the best Volunteer gigs ever... the Star Trek touring exhibition!!! The Sydney Powerhouse Museum hosted it and put the call out for 'tour guides' who were prepared to dress up. We had to produce our own costumes and put in a request for a position with good reasons why we should get the posting. This, after all, was a prestigious position! I was charmed by the use of the term Vedik for characters in Deep Space 9. There were a couple of writers on the show of Indian heritage and of course, the Hindu life is based upon the Vedas, the four books of life and the wisdom structure/philosophy found in there is Advaita Vedanta - of which I am now a teacher and practitioner. So here I am in my Vedik costume with a host of other characters who won a position on the team. It really is a fondly remembered nine months!

Urbanism is a boom trait. Australia is still a young country. The majority of its land is considered Uninhabitable, in settler's minds. The First Nation people might beg to differ. That which is habitable, mainly around the coastline, is fast becoming over-populated. Part of the loss of species is due to the invasion of habitat. One of the ways that Urban planning is attempting to deal with this is to build Up instead of across. The cynical might view this as attempts at maximising profits from offering sea views...

Travel in Australia, other than air, is mainly by road - or Train. Certainly, most goods are Transported this way - and the Trains are Titans - often up to 2km long!

Some of the landscape of OZ is simply Monumental. Yes, there's another word for big - but also filled with an impact that is not necessarily to do with size. One of the best representations of this has to be the Apostles stacks on the Southern coast.

Landscape. Nothing else would fit for this one when talking of The Great Down Under Parts!!! There is no better way to see the variety and range of the world's Largest island than from the air...

It would be difficult to get away from here without putting in a Kangaroo! In this case, an Eastern Grey. (If you wanted a Kookaburra, you need to go to my Instagram A-Z! Click the badge on the sidebar.)

I also wanted to acknowledge here some Kindred spirits. Sisters in heart and soul. It is always a ponderment to me that I had to travel to the opposite end of the earth to find my philosophical calling... some would mention the word 'Karma'...

Tricky for Australia, did you think? No, I bring you the beautiful Jacaranda flower. These trees only bloom late November, early December for about four weeks. There is a saying in OZ that if you haven't studied for your exams by the time the jacaranda blooms, it's too late!

I also wish to share with you my other two angel pets, the other 'Js', Jasper Cat and Jet the guinea pig... then a gratuitous picture of the three Js together. Yes, they really did all get along.

This photo was taken in the lounge area of #21a. That's my teacher giving me the wonderful news that I had been accepted for the course of study in India! Indian Influence is seen in my dress and artworks. 2011 - ten years, yet a lifetime and still yet, only yesterday...

I did mention Flora and Fauna yesterday... but I also want to present you with the Front of the place I called home for twelve years. Until #21a came along, I was renting. This was my Foothold on property ownership. This had been a returned serviceman's cottage on what had originally been orchard land. It was open to the street - so I had the fence and lychgate raised.

Expanse is the first word that came to mind for the letter e. A variation on 'big'.  It really is Enormous. This I can assure you of, having travelled its breadth and depth - mainly by road!

However, one cannot pass this letter without mentioning Ecology and Environment. Australia is known for its range and diversity of unique flora and fauna. That it is losing a significant part of that at quite some rate is a matter of great concern.

Callistemon - aka 'bottlebrush'

Tree Ferns grow all over the world, but Dicksonia's are endemic
to the Antipodes and surrounds.
