Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

It's still the season... the same bird as last week in different pose. I was sure wishing I had remembered to take along the monopod...

Monday's Critters

I did say last week that I was coming at this with a bit of a slant to finish the year off... So here is the not so rare human critter, leaving it's footsteps in the sands...

Thank goodness I do have a stock taken with the 'Nik'... the moon has been invisible for the past two months!!!

Against the glare of the cold, grey sky, this fretwork is well-silhouetted.  Note the blue patch no bigger than a sailor's shirt, proving this is not mono!

A photograph of a mandala. I left all these behind in Australia. It was created with gel-pens, pencils and fibre-tips.

The shot was taken on the Uniden.

TAKE THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN a

Not only is it CHRISTMAS DAY - but it is also LAST THURSDAY, as well as Thursday Challenge time; so I have combined the three, presenting you firstly with a total reworking of a sunset out my window... as a virtual greetings card...

The theme for challenge is 'favourites'... and as stated last week, this entire blog is a selection of my fave shots out of the many zillions of my takes. Sometimes I tizzy them (like that one above), mostly though, they are pretty much straight from camera.  If you click the Last Thursday link above, you will see the tizzies.  Select any label on the right bar and you will be taken to more favourites.

In case you can't bear the thought, here is one from last December, in keeping with the season.

It was TAKE 319 - Glasgow Central Station.

I have greatly enjoyed the Thursday Challenge, but have taken the decision to withdraw from the meme - at least for a while.

I wish you and yours, wherever you are, a safe and happy day.

YAM xx

YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

'TIS THE SEASON!!!

Finally I bring you one from the Fudge. It was that beautiful day in November.  The one and only. Our first outing together. Stretched the lens and this is hand-held. Just a little shake there YAM... but considering the bird wasn't still anywhere for more than 10 seconds, am well-pleased with this.

HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS EVE.

It's getting festive, so here are some bright and beautifuls which were taken with the 'Nik' much earlier this year.

More recently, on the return trip from Edinburgh, and whilst waiting for the ferry from Gourock, this one was taken...

Okay, so I'm stretching it a bit for the next couple of weeks... but have still to get more critter shots with the Fudge.  This was Duthie Park in Aberdeen; the duck pond with plenty residents.

Christmas is close upon us.... here is a varied selection of 'bon-bons' for you; all taken with the 'Nik' from my lounge window.

A wonderful setting, a monochrome day, glinting ships and mother-of-pearl clouds.

This is not a sky which bores!

The Thursday Challenge theme has been set on 'hold' until Jan 1st; with SOME OF MY FAVOURITES being the prompt.

In essence, MY TAKE is a daily presentation of the best of (and therefore, by default) MY FAVES!!! Do I find myself going back and looking at any in particular?  hmmmmmm....

TAKE FIFTEEN

TAKE FIVE - the first 'SUNday'...

TAKE FORTY ONE - Critters are always a fave!!!

TAKE TWENTY THREE - such special memories...

TAKE 232 - I miss my exotic birds...

TAKE 287 - I miss my golden girl...                                    TAKE 272 -  I love macro...

I could go on and on and on and.... why not take a look through the 'previously on My Take' tool (side bar) and let me know which are YOUR favourites out of my favourites???

Black-headed gulls in their winter plumage.

These were all taken with the 'Nik' on that last journey we shared together, in Aberdeen.

That is the River Dee on the left, not the North Sea.  The top one is on the duck pond in Duthie Park.

These floating hotels are so high above water, they actually block the television signal, which comes up from Largs!!! The first has 7 decks above the main deck; the one at left had 10 and the one below is small with only 5 decks above.

They usually are arriving and departing in the night, so this was a rare sighting back in early September. Taken with the 'Nik'.

TAKE THREE HUNDRED AND TWO a

For the Thursday Challenge this week the prompt is HUGE... update just prior to linking at TC,,, the theme has been changed to become MY FAVOURITE PHOTO for the Thursdays up to Jan 1st 2015... oh well... these are posted now ... so let's say these are among my many faves and we'll take it from there...

Bigger than your average gold fish, these giant carp were in the large pond system at Sydney's Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour... taken years ago with the Uniden.  Most of them were about two feet in length!
