Nobby may have gained entirely the wrong impression of summer life in Dunoon. He lucked out in being here on a couple of those rare days!

The visitor was the successor to Bouncing Bertie the Boffin, a certain Wire-haired Fox Terrier puppy called Nobby. At not quite six months, he is going through the teething business that ensures nothing is safe. For those who haven't already, you can read about his visit HERE (with lots more photos)

 Monday's Critters

On my recent sojourn from the Hutch for a first-time-this-year outing and stayaway, I got to meet my cousin's new family member. Gabby is a three-year-old Golden Retriever provided by Bravehound; my cousin is a veteren of Desert Storm (ex-RAF). She's a distraction, that's for sure - a work in progress, shall we say.

Angel Jade... she was fascinated by cattle on that trip up to Woko - who knew they grew pups as big as that?! The Aberdeen Angus cowncil concluded she was not to be worried about.

"The Shikoku Ken is a beautiful Japanese spitz-type breed with a wolf-like appearance.

Shikoku Kens are known to be easier to handle than Shibas and Akitas as they are not as stubborn and are more friendly with other dogs."

Jade Woof MacLean was my heart dog, the one who thought for herself and taught me a thing or two about life... and obeyed my every command except when it involved That Black Poodle who insisted on walking past the gate every morning...

Monday's Critters

Krishna-bhai, senior guardian of the ashram grounds. He seemed ageless as the avatar for whom he was named. He knew the routines and would accompany all the brahmacharis in the early morning up to the temple for chanting, then to the annakshetra for breakfast, then on to Saraswati Nilayam for study. He'd lie listening closely, absorbing all the lessons, over and over for all his years. Three batches at least of students remember him, perhaps four. He'd have been at least 14 when I knew him. On my last visit a couple of years back, he had finally transcended his body.

Mitwa was one of B1's pups - with mainly Pariah genetics you can see the stance, the colouration and the less domesticated features.
