TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY EIGHT

Saturday Symmetry

Sorry this is rather a thumbnail but it was taken in a hurry in the rain... just wanted to show how the shanty-town shores up in the monsoonal deluge.  Quite solid mud brick, double level homes with corrugated roofs, in need of just that little bit more.

In the heart of Edinburgh - to read the whole article go here.
Taken with the Uniden pocketcam.
The dichotomy between Brodie's respectable façade, and his real nature inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Stevenson's father had furniture made by Brodie.
Deacon Brodie is commemorated by a pub of that name on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, on the corner between the Lawnmarket and Bank Street which leads down to The Mound, and an alleyway off the Royal Mile, which contained his family residence, still bears the name "Brodie's Close"

Karma Chameleon!!

This is the 'common' variety and this particular specimen was around two feet in length.  That darkening to match the trunk was happening as I took the photograph.  I have seen them in yellow and also orangey-red colouring also.  Not many as big as this though.

Taken with the 'Nik' on standard auto everything and lens extended to about 3x optical zoom.

By no means a brilliant photograph, this still has appeal in a romantic sort of way.  I was exercising the 'Nik' to see what it could do.

This fountain is seen through the naked fence from my window over on the hotel side.  Thus the slight fuzziness is from the chicken wire immediately in front (5 metres), coupled with the full extension of opt and digital zoom.
