TAKE THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHT

The Tuesday Tease

Okay, this will test your eyesight...  (no kidding!)

This old signage was uncovered during renovations to the Ipswich building which is now a bistro and retail outlet.  Thankfully, it was considered worth preserving and now makes a lovely, stop and stare article for interested passers by.

Taken with the 'Nik' on auto everything.

Post Script - 'Aitch' has found this article telling it's tale!!

  1. I can read the last three lines, and I see the word "specialist" up near the top, and "by" of course, but... oh, okay...that's "spectacle specialist optician by something-or-other to the" and I guess I could say I also did it with my eyes on auto-everything!
In North America, so many old places get completely destroyed. For two young countries, we're not going to have a whole lot of historical buildings if we persist in pulling them down.
    Sigh.
    Love, K

Kay - kudos!! "OPTHALMOLOGIST AND SPECTACLE SPECIALIST BY APPOINTMENT TO THE..." and you can read the rest.

Joanne - yes indeed. As Bill says below, in the UK more and more of these are being discovered and preserved.

Bill - what amazes me is that nobody destroyed them in the first place when rendering or painting over them!!

  6. I could pick out spectacle specialist but thought I had it wrong until I saw your comment about Ophthalmologist. I'm glad they decided to keep the sign.
