The vehicle ferries that run between Dunoon and Gourock are independent - that is to say, they are not the big bodger Caledonian MacBrayne, who dominate so many of Scotland's ferry routes. Western Ferries are very reliable and regular. There are four in the fleet, named after a group of islands off the coast from Oban. Shuna, Seil, Soay and Scarba.
