TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY h

Monday's Critters

This thing showed up one evening about a month back. A very exotic insect for these parts. Took quite a while to ascertain ID... almost two inches long from eyes to butt, it turns out this is a Mexican wasp species known as Netelia

  1. Has it been established how it found its way to Scotland?

Nothing directly points to arrival of the thing - but one has to assume originally arrived on a ship of something... apparently has been in England for quite a few years, but as with most invaders, is adapting and spreading... Yxx

  6. David your first commenter asked the question I was thinking how in the world did it get to Scotland? It doesn't look that big that 2in is pretty good size I'm glad it's not here I don't like anything that has the word wasp attached to it

  8. It's pretty! But invasive species are a pain.
