TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY SIX h

 Wings on Wednesday;
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in photographing birds.

This Wagtail was very entertaining as it made great efforts to tease its fledgling from the nest. I sat for a good half hour watching it doing air ballet, lots of chirping and chuffing; it gathered food (which you can just about make out here) and kept flying to the entrance in the wall to show the youngster the food, then quickly flicked back to this perch in hopes it was enough to tease it out... eventually, it was!

  2. Sooner or later the technique works. Wagtails are very appealing birds. I wish we had them here.

  4. What a wonderful parent to offer such encouragement to the wee ones.
    I once witnessed a pair of Eastern BlueBirds encouraging their little blue ones. One parent was near the nest the other was on the ground below the nest.
    They would fly from the nest just few inches, yards and feet. Gradually the wee ones spread their wings the glided to the ground where the parent quickly guided them under the bush for safety

  6. What a good parent!!! We need a "parent" or something to come along here and teach Dylan to start singing again after what seems like a very long molting period:(
