TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY NINE h

 Monday's Critters

May as well start this month of Mondays with reference to the representation of divinity in nature through the well-known image of Sri Ganesha.

All deity figures are there to remind us of qualities required to navigate life. For example, here we remember that we are stronger than we think we are, that obstacles can be removed with determination, that our ears should be bigger than our mouths...

I refer you back to July 1st post. Part of a series for the month. As to where, it was Chaturthi at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya... I am exploring my ashram experience through the Menoculayshunal posts over at Wild YAM bloggy - which I think you will have seen 'advertised' on Blogchatter. Yxx

  2. Am I the only one to confess that this is not for me a "well known image of Sri Ganesha"? Am I the only one who might have posed the question, "Who or what is Sri Ganesha?"

As stated in the blurb, one of the deity figures in India. (Article with basics.) The figure is pretty widely distrubuted as a result of the 'hippy' movement. A great many teeshirts bear this image all over the globe! (Though these may not be circles with which you have turned, you almost certainly will have seen the face of Ganesha, even just walking along the street, but not realised that is what you were looking at.) 2. I was out and about quite a bit today, including joining the lineup at two different stores to wait my turn to go in, and deliberately kept my eyes peeled. I saw not a one!

    3. LOL - there'll be one lurking somewhere you least expect it... Not, I suspect, that you feel any loss for the lack of sighting!!! Yxx

  3. she is a little scary and my ears are HUGE so are bigger than my mouth, but it doesn't stop me from talking over others who are talking. the long nose is also me, because I contantly stick my nose in others business. I do know that is not what the figure is about but what I thought when it came up

  4. Ohhhh listen more, speak less. I struggled with that as a child. No telling how many trees were used for all the notes my teachers sent to my parents
