TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN f

Monday's Critters

Australia is, as you can imagine, alive with Lepidoptera. Some I am quite good at naming. Others, not so much. I believe this to be Argynnia Cyrila (Cyril's Brown). Caught in Emm's garden - she lives in the hills north of Sydney.

  1. What a beautiful Butterfly. I only recognize Monarchs 100%.

  2. I know only the few types we get in our back yard, long wing zebra, red admiral, swallowtail, and a couple more I can't think of right now. I know none of their REAL names

  3. I will be returning to Australia next year and I should get my hands on a good butterfly guide before going. I know little of Australian lepidoptera and it would be good to familiarize myself with them. I will be there in the winter so I am not sure if there will be many butterflies around at that time of the year. In any event thanks for showing me this one.

Well, it will depend where you chose to roam on that occasion, David; Victoria may not have any at that time, but Northern NSW and above, you could very well find some! Yxx
