Hari OM That is a type of lichen. The stone is from Hadrian's wall (Roman, North England - built to keep the Scots out; not a new idea you see, and didn't work!) It was reused when building this Norman (11th century) church. Yxx
Very interesting shot. I have fond memories of a visit to Hadrian's wall a couple of years ago. My wife especially was very anxious to see it and Richard Pegler, a blogger with whom many of you are familiar, kindly made it all possible for us.
Ohhh these types of pictures are so pleasing to the eye..texture color and imagination.

That is wonderful, whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo even though we don't have a clue what that yellow stuff could be:) Is it edible? Some sort of fungi?

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The leave pattern(very fossil-ish)caught my eye....
ReplyDeleteI love the rock texture and lichen. I did not think the walls worked, they are a waste of time and money. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteA specimen of history!
