TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY ONE h

Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

I was really hoping it was a Shag... but no, 'twas but a regular Cormorant. We used to see a lot of Shags on the shore of the Cromarty when we were younger... now they are classified 'red status' by the RSPB.

  1. Wow! It's as if the bird is sitting on its shadow.

  2. I have to check the difference between the Shag and Cormorants. They look similar.
Great photo! Take care, have a happy day!

  3. On my last two visits to Europe, it has been very difficult to find a Shag. The last ones I saw, as far as I recall, were on the rocks at Anglesey close to eighteen years ago. They are similar to, but quite different from, Great Cormorants, as you know of course, and it is a shame that they have experienced such a steep decline in numbers.
