Great Black-backed Gull (the pale legs are the giveaway). It was BIG. The poppy-heads you see it beside? They are a metre high... Very handsome, but a tad scary!
Nope I would not want to get in the way of this fella and his food.

I agree...they are amazing to watch both in the air...and walking along the beach(or parking lot, or yard LOL). Beautiful shot!
