Crossed lots of bridges on the big Americas trip... this one is known to local Cincinnatians as the 'singing bridge', due to the mesh metal roadway. The tyres hum along nicely on there! I just loved the pretty blue metal work...
We had a bridge decking like that in NE Ohio in the fifties. One of the first in the nation, touted for its ability to shed rain, which it did. However, we have monumental winters here, which Cincinnati is spared,on the whole, and the bridge becomes treacherous. It also is not safe for motorcycles, which must maintain a single groove across or chance a spill. Ours was replaced with cheers at the turn of the millenium.
