TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND TWO c

Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in photographing birds.

Bullfinch. Now on the UK 'amber' warning list; reduced population. Rare to see in cities. This one was singing mournfully atop the cherry tree in my father's Edinburgh garden.

  1. Really? I had no idea there was a shortage of Bullfinches (actually that is quite worrying)….well, there isn't in our garden, I'd best look after them……..ummmm, do you finks they like bacon to eat?

hmmmm not sure about bacon, your Rindliness... but sunflower seeds, now they will surely dine on those!!! I was a little surprised to see the amber warning - but it was on spotting this fellow that I realised I hadn't seem many (if any) at all since returning to UK... Yxx

Bullfinch is a big name for such a tiny bird. We love the color of his feathers.

  3. I'm finding it hard to photograph them from waaaaay below! You'd think they'd like to be recorded for posterity, like my barred owls!
