TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY THREE d

Can it be, is it true? Yup. Last Thursday today.

Did it to the insects last month, did it to the water plants this month. Polarisation.

Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in photographing birds.

Lens was at full stretch and also had to cut in a bit to try and get a better view of those two larger birds. The large ID book we had with us didn't really help - neither did the binoculars. The nearest I can come to is that it is a pair of female Common Scoter, which live only in the NW region of Scotland. Can't really define the colouring from this shot, but naked eye did show lighter tone around neck... per this image from RSPB site. They are on the "Red Status", as there are only about 50 breeding pairs!
