TAKE TWENTY THREE e

"My parents live in the part of the United States that is Canada. It is so far north that Minnesota lies in the same direction as Miami. They have four distinct seasons: Winter, More Winter, Still More Winter, and That One Day Of Summer."
(W. Bruce Cameron)

  1. Absolute stereotypical crap about Canada. And as for Canada being part of the United States -never has been, never will be. Even when the Americans tried to invade Canada they were repelled. And when Custer was ass-whupped by Sitting Bull and the Sioux, where did he come to? The Grandmother Country - Canada!

Clearly one of those flippancies which misses the mark for some... righteous indignance accepted. It 'spoke' to me as Scotland longs for its one day of summer each year also! Yxx

    2. It is no different than presenting stereotypical reflections on black people, asians, Jews, women......in the guise of humour. Surely we have gotten past this. And factually, a good part of Canada is farther south than a good part of the United States. We have four distinct, appealing lovely seasons, a marvellous spring, warm, balmy days of summer, a fall filled with colours so magnificent that people from all over the world come to see them, and a crisp, cold winter that promotes winter sports and all manner of social activity. We don’t have the worst gun violence in the world, we respect diversity, we encourage immigration of all people, we reach out to help refugees, we don’t have the highest incarceration rate in the world, we are a decent civilized society, we have a fully functioning democracy...........

All of which is true, David. However, this quote was used simply to illustrate the photo, which is the focus of this blog, and for no other reason. That it has inadvertently caused offence, I apologise. YAM xx
