TAKE ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY j

Some evenings are just surreal...

The very first 'shipping by...' image I placed here, in July 2014. That's the Bute ferry. It isn't actually going downhill. That's the photographer's ineptitude; and yes, the sky was really that colour!

One of the archival retrieval things...(TAKE 136a)

Saturday Symmetry

Standing on the slope of Dunoon's Castle House gardens, a wider view of the Victorian pier was easier to capture and emphasises the symmetry of the structure.

Taken with the 'Nik' on auto.

After the rain at the crazy golf course, down by the shore.

TAKE FOURTEEN g

Saturday Symmetry

Onboard the Argyll Flyer, one of the two ferry-boats from Gourock to Dunoon. It was zero degrees centigrade outside, but the sun was shining strong and low - hitting the hills with what could truly be called an ethereal light.

...as viewed from the symmetry of the vessel...

TAKE FIVE g

It's the first Thursday of the G-series...

... and it looks like this from the Hutch. Storm Ciara gone, another brewing.

The Bute Ferry on the Clyde. Who said January was a dull month? (Yes, that is true colour!)

The vehicle ferries that run between Dunoon and Gourock are independent - that is to say, they are not the big bodger Caledonian MacBrayne, who dominate so many of Scotland's ferry routes. Western Ferries are very reliable and regular. There are four in the fleet, named after a group of islands off the coast from Oban. Shuna, Seil, Soay and Scarba.

TAKE THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE f

SUNdays

As mentioned on Thursday, it has been surprisingly mild and even sunny over the festives. The angle being low, the shadows are long.

when I first moved to the Hutch, I was agog with all the busy-ness on the Clyde firth. Sadly, in that first year, the old Nik was starting to show it's age and overuse. The Eilidh Anne is one of our local shrimping craft.

The third, and final, view of that magnificent tall ship as it passes the Gantocks light marker.

Another 'take' on the tall ship "Stavros". The sea haze and full zoom caused some graininess that is not displeasing for such a scene.

Am not 100% certain, but am ninety-five,
that this is The Stavros.

Another from the archives - afraid I can't make out the name now and too far back to recall. The usual Clyde 'murk' doesn't help!

The QM2 sailing out of Greenock and down past the Hutch's window one night last year. She was moving fast and I am amazed I got any kind of recognisable shot at all!
