Monday's Critters

This insomniac was having a gander out the window at 5 am one spring morning... and what should I spy? Yup, Roe Deer. Three does just sauntering up the middle of William Street!!! They disappeared into one gate, in hope of juicy shoots, no doubt. I was slow getting the camera up and running, so not brilliant shots, but proof, nonetheless!

This shot of Greenock docks was taken with the lens at full stretch (max zoom) from Blairmore, on the shores of Loch Long. For once, there was a clear day! Remember those cranes, they'll make another appearance here before too much longer.

Along with the Coal Tits, the most frequent visitors to the feeding stations were the Siskins. This is a female.

I was mostly using 'sports mode' on the Hisstix (Canon - see 'tools page) so, though got lots of lovely poses, the picture quality is not quite so good.

A Coal Tit 'spitting the dummy.' He definitely didn't want peanuts!

You are going to see several shots of this and other birds at this feeding station - which I visited on my birthday in April. It was the first decent birding session I'd had in... years! So although much of a muchness, you are going to be faced with the pick of the best of a great many images taken in that half hour!!!

Two of the same vessel taken within minutes of each other. The first is sharp and clear, but compositionally, I prefer the second one - particularly for showing the size against our wee local shrimping boat.  Ironically, when we get the big tankers and cruisers along here, this ship would become like the shrimper against them!

Which do you prefer?
