Public conveniences made inconvenient due to padlocks. Still... some symmetry was the compensation!

 Monday's Critters

I was not only surprised to find sunflowers so abundant in late September in NE Bonny Land, but also to discover the company they kept... a buff-tailed bumblebee and the smaller honey bee.

This Wagtail was very entertaining as it made great efforts to tease its fledgling from the nest. I sat for a good half hour watching it doing air ballet, lots of chirping and chuffing; it gathered food (which you can just about make out here) and kept flying to the entrance in the wall to show the youngster the food, then quickly flicked back to this perch in hopes it was enough to tease it out... eventually, it was!

Abdomen of a Wasp Spider (Argiope bruennichi) - yet another species that arrived from foreign parts and appears to be thriving and moving northward. The web was so fine it just doesn't show in this early-morning shot.

A European Peacock butterfly in the burst of autumn sun that graced our visit to our aunt and uncle in the NE of this Bonny Land. Both the 23'C temps and this beauty surprised us! (I KNOW it's not a bird, but wings it most definitely has...)

Aside from the fact that I was absent from the Hutch for some eighteen months prior to last Christmas, it is also only in the past two to three months that shipping has started to show up again as it did before the world stopped. Not quite as busy as it was, but so good to have something train the camera lenses on again.

 Monday's Critters

On my recent sojourn from the Hutch for a first-time-this-year outing and stayaway, I got to meet my cousin's new family member. Gabby is a three-year-old Golden Retriever provided by Bravehound; my cousin is a veteren of Desert Storm (ex-RAF). She's a distraction, that's for sure - a work in progress, shall we say.

These have been lurking in the Fudge's card since the spring - shame on me. A pair of sparrows brought up two broods in the nesting box on the telegraph pole at the back window... this was them refreshing the nest between batches!
