One of the many in our local fishing fleet... however, that day its transponder wasn't on so no online tracking and I couldn't make out it's name here either.... clearly it is trawling, rather than creeling...

Monday's Critters

Have been doing some desperate things to try and build up my critters folder again... I was parked having a flask of tea and this lady walked by... surreptitiously got the Fudge into action via the wing mirror!

It's a chocolate labradoodle, 'case you were wondrin'...

Remember the Tufted Duck? Well a couple of weeks later and half a country away, I found some more - including this female of the species. Unlike Mallards, these appear to prefer to separate into same-gender company. Presumably that changes at the appropriate time in Spring!

Those of you who are regulars here will by now be getting a 'scale'... as I nearly always have the lens stretched to the full 30x zoom and stand in exactly the same spot at my window. Thus the occasional appearance of trees or chimneys gives a baseline measure. Which is to say, the Nansen is a MONSTER... &*>

Continuing to use my stock from Leith Docks. The 'Wings' offering was from this place... top left corner of structure - you can just make out the shag - I somehow didn't notice the statue at the end until I uploaded to the computer.

It appears to be 'nekkid'. Not a fisherman then.

Thursday again already.  What is today's pot-luck?

...Utopia???

No. It is, though, a new housing settlement on land reclaimed from industrial use North of Edinburgh. This shot was taken from Leith Docks, across the firth to the area called Granton - it is an actual terms some seven or eight miles 'crow-flies' distance, but the Fudge's zoom brought it nearer.

YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in photographing birds.

This was a bit of a coup. Early January, when the weather turned to actual winter, looking out the Father's window in Edinburgh a single bird of different plumage was spotted.  At first I thought female blackbird (as there was a male of that species also on the shrub). However, when it turned to me I realised it was something else.

FIELDFARE! Rare enough to see in it's usual flocks - more so in urban areas. This one was all alone. May have been blown off course by the gales.  What a little darling!
