It's the last Thursday, so why not bring you something a little left-field as is the norm for this blog? I cannot for the life of me recall the name of this tree, located in Edgeworth David community gardens, Hornsby NSW...but it was certainly eye-catching. (Trust me, I've done a thorough web search... if anyone else can come up with it, kudos to you!)
I have tried, YAM, but I have drawn a blank. Perhaps one of your Australian readers might be able to help.

DeleteI have a vague memory of it being related to the fig tree family... but beyond that my memory fails! Yxx
Wow, that is strange! Is it some kind of fungi growing on the tree?
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your day!

DeleteNo, it is a flower, of sorts. There was a plaque with the name of the tree, I recall - but I DON"T recall what it said!!! I am not entirely certain it was an Aussie native... Yxx
Very very pretty and most unique with blooms on the trunk I spy a cobweb too.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who lives in Dubbo, NWS. I'll send her the photo perhaps she can id it

DeleteTobi mom to Dui, Angel BElla and Roxy was the friend I asked about the tree.
She didn't know the name either.

Deletewould have been surprised if she did... I have a flashback that it is one of the ficus species (a form of fig) and it may have originated from China. I remember reading the plaque about it and somehow that bit of info has stuck... but nothing else! And no amount of research (at which you will recall I have some chops!) has revealed it to me... hey ho. Thanks for trying. Yxx
I'm going to go with "pretty fuzzy tree flower" ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat is a very unusual tree, but the flowers are very pretty. We too thought it might be a fungus of sorts. We have no idea what the name could be.
