TAKE ELEVEN g
Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and
the downright hilarious in photographing birds.
These images were captured early last Autumn, through the double-glazing, in great hurry and lens at full-stretch. Goldfinches are not commonly seen in Dunoon, so they had to be recorded for posterity!

TAKE FOUR g
Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and
the downright hilarious in photographing birds.
Due to the exceptionally mild winter, this magpie was spotted making the base of a nest (taken through the double-glazing and at full stretch of the wee cam's lens, so not the sharpest shot!). That was a month ago. The winds of Storms Bernard and Ciara have put paid to that - for now.

... yes, it's a leap year - it is also the last post of this blog's 'year' and we turn to the letter G tomorrow. It's Take's 7th blogiversary. I bring you one from each of the preceding 'last days' - which may or may not relate to Saturday Symmetry!

The penguin walk at Edinburgh Zoo.
The zoo is top-notch at managing this event. It is left entirely up to the penguins whether they want to walk or not. It mimics natural behaviour as the birds would tend to go walkabout when not nursing.
The gates are opened and the keeper/s wait to see who's on for a ramble. Following the walk (around a fair bit of the zoo grounds), they return to their enclosure and dive straight in one or other of their lovely pools - as they would if they reached the edge of the ice and into the sea!
Sometimes all the birds join in. Sometimes only a few. Occasionally only one or two. There is no interaction allowed - unless a character or two approach you individually and seek that themselves. And trust me, they are characters!!!
Obviously, this is one of my archival shots. Taken about forty years ago!

TAKE THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR f
Monday's Critters
Failure February - am going to bring you some that make me wonder... "What was I aiming for???"
This fox and kits has sat by father's door for about forty years. It has never been cleaned. It has been dropped a couple of times. None of us wants to inherit it. I guess I just wanted a photo for posterity!
