TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY

Monday's Critters.

A little suite from Sydney's Chinese Gardens.  The coy carp there are prolific breeders and grow to a full 24 inches in length, with hefty girths to match!!  Taken with the Uniden.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE

MOONday - last Sunday of September!

This was the last clear night before monsoon hit.  Had the 'Nik' on full extension into the 4x digital as well as 26x optical zoom and auto exposure.  This definitely affects the quality, but does give an ambience - rather like the old trick of smearing the lens with petroleum jelly for soft focus!!

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT

Saturday Symmetry

I admit I played around a bit in WLPG with this one - somehow I felt that the fence protecting the Gateway of India needed to look more aged. May not be everyone's taste, but am happy with the grainy, 1960's quality I got!

Taken with the 'Nik' on auto everything.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN

"The amen of Nature is always a flower."  (Oliver Wendell Holmes)

The Uniden pocket digital camera has deceased. However, its legacy lives on, for I have many of its offerings stored. It had its limitations, no doubt, but golly, it could also turn up some amazing things I was never expecting.  It did good and constant service for six years.  I miss its convenience over the Nikon for those candid moments.  Whilst the 'Nik' might make a better technical job of a shot like this, I am left with a fondness for the quirkiness and character I got from the Uniden.  It shall be missed.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX

Last Thursday - the day when things can go haywire, or are just plain peculiar!

image copyright to Yamini Ali MacLean

I am entering this in the Thursday Challenge.  It is my second entry - mostly I forget, but always enjoy others' offerings!!

This week's prompt was 'BEVERAGE'.

This is a piece cut from a full colour shot taken at my niece's 18th birthday.  I got stuck into it with WLPG, paring back the brightness, boosting contrast and highlights. Aim was to accentuate the champers at the back of the frame and enhance the sparkles in the glasses.

It kinda-sorta worked...

Taken with the Uniden.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE

Wings on Wednesday -
YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

Am now on my last three Wednesdays before leaving India. Am doing a little 'backwards sequence' so as to say goodbye to these shores on a top-note...

There will be many more pictures from here which have been worth the keeping, but here are a few to delight.

Ready?  Okay.  THREE...

Black Kite takes a dive - look out snake!  Taken with the 'Nik' on sports auto and 5x zoom.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE

B1 (aka Winkie), the alpha bitch of the B-pack, spotted after having made an 'A1' catch of a crow.  Even her puppy didn't get a lick of this kill.

Captured on extreme zoom with the 'Nik' on sports auto. She had no idea the YAMarazzi was there!

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN

The Tuesday Tease

Fifty words or less to tell the story of the street - go on have a go!!

"Bluey gazed longingly down the steps and along the street.  He could sniff the sea on the breeze.  Better still, he could sniff fish.  Was there a 'chippie' down that way then?  The saliva began to pool.  Then the cat heard his mistress calling - Bluey, come get your tea!"

This is standing with the Queen's Park behind and looking down Easter Road, Edinburgh.
Taken with the Uniden.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN

Monday's Critters

Taken up at Kolwan, Maharashtra with the Uniden digicam and using the macro mode.

Do pay a visit to BOZO and hop over to TOO for the Canine Chronicles.

UPDATE ; folk are showing interest in the butterfly - here are the details from Wiki;
Danaus chrysippus, also known as the Plain Tiger or African Monarch, is a common butterfly which is widespread in Asia and Africa. It belongs to the Danainae ("Milkweed butterflies") subfamily of the brush-footed butterfly familyNymphalidae. It is a medium-sized, non-edible butterfly, which is mimicked by multiple species.

A modern satellite settlement in Mumbai... Hiranandani.  Property is as expensive as any major city in the world - and more than some!

Sorry it's so small, was taken on low resolution on the Uniden.

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND SIX

In spite of the heavy monsoon this year, our little 'door guardian' rose bush has continued to delight!

Taken with the 'Nik' on macro auto.

For those who like a bit of creative writing, a short story series, Crow Capers, is over on TOO for a few Fridays.

05 September 2013

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND FIVE

...but it's not over yet!
Neither of these photos is particularly grand, but they have the atmosphere of the monsoon!

The 'Nik' was having trouble focusing through the curtain of rain that day...not one shot was crisp or clear.  That in itself is a memory and a learning point!

TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND FOUR

YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

The skies are clearing in Monsoonal Mumbai...
