I think that we all collect shells, or at the very least pick them up to admire them, for as long as we live. I have a collection myself, the latest ones being gathered on Prince Edward Island and in New Brunswick in May. When I bring them home I start to identify them but somehow never seem to finish the task, so there they dwell in my display cabinet, looking nothing short of glorious, like a portrait gallery of my ancestors from those primeval seas.
