While I have done a couple of images that approach the more traditional pen and pencil style of 'art', I've been really enjoying exploring all the different aspects of working on a screen instead of paper and desk. It is vastly different and feeds my need for the abstract rather satisfyingly. Yes, I could keep reaching for the realism - but don't we all enjoy having our eye's and minds stretched a little, our funny bones tickled, our senses challenged?

I don't claim full credit for this one - I utilised a 'drawing class' within ibisPaint which advocated that old trick of "draw two ovals at angles..." then added broad strokes! What is it though - David??? Maybe a stump-tailed Wren? Or a Warbler of indistinct origin???

This one is not entirely hand-produced - I have transformed an image of the two wee glass whales who guard the geology collection...

This is supposed to be a photoblog... and for the most part, I've managed to maintain that, although for much of last year you had to deal with my mining the archives and re-running many shots. 

So far this year the camera lenses have been underused to the point of stagnation. I am hoping I might gather a few more over the coming weeks, but I have decided for the month of May to present some of my original artwork, digitally produced on a combo of ibisPaintX and PixlR. They still count as images and each will tell a story according to your own eye - whether those stories reach a thousand words or not is as random as the pics themselves will be!
