this looks like it is more functional than beautiful.. I agree with rose, the porch is fantastic. this home is perfect for Florida and there are many like it here... it is great because of flooding rains and lots of hot sun
Symmetry like architecture is in the eye's of the beholder. Honestly one of the most unattractive buildings in Raleigh the the home of the NC Architects Assocation. On today's post it sits just to the left of the Archdale Building...I did not include it in the photo. Hugs HiC
Hari OM No Eileen, that is just due to the angle of the ground - the back side of the house was pretty much at ground level. And it sits well up on a hillside. There is a river at the foot of the hill but there would be no danger of flooding. This style is more about keeping wildlife (think snakes) from entering the premises! Yxx
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....or in this case, I would enjoy the wrap around porch so much I could forgive a lot.
ReplyDeleteAs you rightly point out, symmetry and beauty are not necessarily the same thing. This is more like symmetry and utility.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteIt is a great symmetry photo. I assume it is close to the water since it is built on stilts.
Happy weekend to you!

Beautifully framed.
ReplyDeleteI think I saw a similar picture from Australia about architectural symmetry in an earlier post.
