I am not sure that Confucius lived through COVID. I have a friend in his fifties whose entire business was founded on ecotourism, and since there has been no travel for almost a year, with no prospects for a resumption until 2022, his business, his income, his support of his family, has collapsed. Life does get complicated sometimes. And not because we make it so.
Hari OM I too have such acquaintances...it is heart-rending, and there is no doubt that the events of life do indeed become complicated. Life itself, however, remains quite simple with requirements of food and shelter. As a species we have deeply complicated the obtaining of these basics such that many are without, whilst a few have multiple choice, and a whole range of us in between. So much value placed in the externals of living that simply living itself has become difficult. It has been thus since long before Confuscius and, I despair, will ever remain thus. Pandemics and similar disasters only serve to highlight this tragedy. Yxx
I 100 % agree with the oh so wise Confusious. even when we consider C-19, as the comment above, certain aspects of it and the fight against it are simple, but humans make it complicated. not the deaths and sickness, but the fight against it. i think C meant our everyday living and breathing. for example i made the simple task of buying a new computer into something sooooo complicated
Hari OM Yes, you get the gist. Your computer experience illustrates it well. As humans we relish choice and variety, not realising the traps we set ourselves! I do sympathise with those who have suffered at all levels from this current pandemic; but it doesn't negate the value of this quote. Yxx
Confucius understood humans will find something to worry about...my Annie ma used to say 'don't stir the (worry) pot until it is necessary. Beautiful buds. Hugs Cecilia
Beautiful budding beauties!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful buds.

Wonderful quote from Confucius. It's so true, actually. It's not too difficult to find that simplicity of life.
ReplyDeleteVery true, Confucius, but 2020 into 2021 has been very complicated beyond our control:(
ReplyDeleteWhat a very true quote...and beautiful buds!
