Monday's Critters
Australia is, as you can imagine, alive with Lepidoptera. Some I am quite good at naming. Others, not so much. I believe this to be Argynnia Cyrila (Cyril's Brown). Caught in Emm's garden - she lives in the hills north of Sydney.

What a beautiful Butterfly. I only recognize Monarchs 100%.

I know only the few types we get in our back yard, long wing zebra, red admiral, swallowtail, and a couple more I can't think of right now. I know none of their REAL names
ReplyDeleteI will be returning to Australia next year and I should get my hands on a good butterfly guide before going. I know little of Australian lepidoptera and it would be good to familiarize myself with them. I will be there in the winter so I am not sure if there will be many butterflies around at that time of the year. In any event thanks for showing me this one.
