Hari OM Popular in shops are the geodes. Quartz is found in many geologic conditions, though. Here in Scotland, it is more likely to be 'sprouting' or as an inclusion in granite and basalt. These very clear points, though, are most likely to have come from Brazil. Yxx

These are beautiful. I've found a few like this (usually very small) during my hikes in the desert. Lots and lots of quarts in the desert, but clear quartz is rare.

Well, David took that question right out of my mouth. My experience with that sort of quartz crystal has been from the interior of a geode.
