A banksia pod after bush fire. Despite the recent trauma, it will shed seeds to the gound at its base. It's own ash will nourish them. Regeneration occurs.
We have several species of long leaf pine whose seeds will only sprout after a wildfire has burnt them. Nature knows the quirks of it's ecosystem. These pines are rarer in that we control wildfires so well.
