Hari OM The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is the largest butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in Australia. That is to say, due to the flutteries flying freely in the domes, it is referred to as an aviary. Worth every cent of the visit - as is Birdworld. They are both at Kuranda, just outside Cairns - and you can travel there by the Kuranda Scenic Railway - fabulous! YAM xx
Hari OM LOL - ta David... I oughtta have used my own source material to remember the name! The photo, of course, really does not convey the mesmeric quality of those wings!!! Yxx
You know how much I love Neon black with neon colors and this butterfly looks just like my Med Snapper blog colors I love it never seen anything like it
Can you have a butterfly aviary. Does the terms not relate only to an enclosure where birds are kept?

ReplyDeleteBeautiful little thing.
Happy to oblige, Joanne. It is Cairns Birdwing (Ornithoptera euphorion).

What a beautiful buttie pillar (borrowed from our Princess Leah). Perhaps is it a painted lady?
