TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY ONE f

Monday's Critters

Another of the taxidermies at Inverness Museum. This was the alpha (breeding) female of a pack of Mackenzie river wolves which resided at the Highland Wildlife Park. None of that original pack remains. Scandinavian wolves are now the pack in the highlands.

This picture does her no justice - she was HUGE!
As tall as a great dane and two times the mass.

  1. She looks cuddly but I am sure that she was a competent mother and an excellent guardian of her pups.

  3. wolves are so beautiful to me, it is sad the pack is gone... you are right, I thought she was small for a wolf, but then there is no way to tell in the photo that she was extra large.
