Hari OM Yes, it is true that the lady married and emigrated to NC... but the war of independence found her siding with the British govt (a little odd given her distaste for Westminster!) so she and hubby had to retreat and returned to Scotland! Yxx
One of the many things that sets Europe apart from North America is the sheer number of statues and monuments. I always regret that we don't have this deep connection to history.

And there was another distinguished Flora MacDonald, who was a Minister of External Affairs for Canada during the Mulroney years.
