One of my personal favourite shots from the archives. I had been watching the smaller boat wondering what it was doing, then 'whoosh'!

Heading for Faslane naval base.

If you look closely at the hills you can vaguely see green. This is NOT a B&W but once again shooting against that low Scottish light has produced a photo with atmosphere and menace.

An adult Black-headed gull and a 'yearling'. (At first, I thought it was behind the times not getting its 'hood' - 

but a study of the wonderful GULLS OF THE WORLD {thanks David Gascoigne for bringing it to attention!} taught me this is the juvenile, with its orange/black beak and tawny feathers.) 

Will bring a closer look at that next week.
