My only visit to India was an airport stop on in Calcutta (Kalkatta?) the way to Paro, Bhutan from Bangkok, but Black Kites could be seen circling near the airport, and from my hotel window on the thirteenth floor in Hong Kong, we were quite often eye to eye the Black Kite and I.
