  1. Harmonious and beautiful proportion and balance - that's the definition of symmetry. By that definition, it is a stretch of my imagination at least, to view this picture as representing symmetry.

That's one look at symmetry, true; I guess I am more on the mathematical side of the equation...An object has reflectional symmetry if there is a line going through it which divides it into mirror images. An object has rotational symmetry if it can be rotated about a fixed point without changing its overall shape.

It is patterning and presence which appeals to my eye and that means, sometimes, the asymmetrical also - if beauty comes with it... bonus!

Such is the joy of difference! Yxx

  2. The building s perfect symmetry the photo is not. I prefer the older building to my personal taste

Hehe, that is true Sandra - it was taken from a moving vehicle, as so many of shots were on that recent trip, so that I got anything decent at all is to be thankful for! Yxx

  3. Oh I really like this photo and how very artsy old and new. I do like well laid brick though

  4. That is a lot of perfect symmetry. Mom is glad it isn't a puzzle because it would drive her crazy.

  5. I love the contrasts in symmetry in this shot...between the old and new...and even the top and bottom of the newer building!
