TAKE TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR

Wings on Wednesday -

YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

This was one of the very first shots I took when trying out the new Nikon L810...the 'Nik'.

Had it on auto function and the lens was stretched to the full 26x optical and 4x digital.  A little blurry and overexposed, but considering this black kite was resting on a tree approximately one kilometer distant, I was well pleased!

Thanks to Squirrel Queen for linking up last week... a reminder that I will be putting in the formal linky gain once have relocated to Scotland; but for time being anyone who wishes can do so anyway!!

  2. Not sure if I'd call it "a lovely bird" but I'm fascinated by the idea of the kite. In Kipling's Ballad of East and West, Kamal says to the colonel's son, "If I had bowed my head on my breast, as I have held it high, the kite that whistles above ye now were gorged 'til she could not fly" — I'm sure now that the world has changed so much since I first read that (more than 50 years ago, probably 55 years ago) I can now probably find the sound of the kite whistling somewhere on Google.
Strange, life these days, isn't it?

  4. Hari Om
    Sylvia - ta!

Kay - the whistling is quite haunting and it is one of the things I miss from Mumbai (and yes it is!)

Bill - as you know it is so much about timing and equipment to hand. But yes, I did get some wonderful shots there!

  5. Nice shot of the kite. I missed this last one but I'll be back soon. After this coming week I will have more time for blogging.
