Wings on Wednesday -

YAM's take on the good, the bad, the ugly and the downright hilarious in respect to photographing birds.

As with the shipping posts, am fast-tracking on the last few remaining 'wings' shots from the 'Nik'. These two complete the little 'gull drift' subset of the Herring gull fledgeling finding its... well... its wings!!!

There are just enough shots taken with the 'Nik' before it gave up the ghost to share until close of year. Not one at a time, but grouped like this, so that in the New Year I can bring you work from the Fudge.

Looking at these, you would hardly know the camera was on its last legs! For each good shot though, 20 or 30 had to be discarded due to the lack of focus and the peculiar shaking behaviour of the lens.

These were taken when over in Aberdeen in November.

The one above was taken from the train going South to Edinburgh; it is Montrose harbour and there were a fair few ships in - but couldn't get their details.









This one on the left was waiting for me as I arrived home from Edinburgh...

Monday's Critters

Second pup out on its own and loving the sunshine!!! Full tummy to the warmth, thank you very much...

Wooohoooo new critters!  A couple of Sunday's back we had sunshine.  Real, actual, bright ball in the sky stuff. I also had the the Fudge just busting to get used. (See updated side bar or THIS POST.)

I was barely out of Dunoon heading to the Toward point when I spotted something moving out in the middle of the firth. By the middle, I mean a goodly one kilometre from shore. Time to try out this 50x optical lens. Hand held. Put it into 'programmable' mode where the shutter and exposure can be controlled as the light was glarey and the auto function made things look 'plastic'.

Oh yes, this is gonna be fun...


Pee-ess.... exciting news... BOZO (that links to the post about my visit with Bozo and his peeps) is back from his hols and wagging his tail like crazy! Do pay him a visit...

I suppose you could count this as fencing, but it is in fact the guardrail of a footbridge across a stream beside the Dunoon Library. (Still using up the stock from the 'Nik'...)

For the Thursday Challenge this week we are to approach things MINIMALLY - whether that be a simple subject, or basic and simple photography...

When the 'Nik' was still quite young and feeling fit, it worked on this Scribbly-Bark Eucalypt...

The next is one of the first images taken with the 'Fudge'... on auto scene mode it tends to make things 'blue'.

Have been fiddling and faddling with all the dials and buttons and there are a few decent shots coming out of the new tool... Will be using up the stock from the 'Nik' but gradually the 'Fudge' will take over.
