Didn't think I'd let the month go by without an insect or two did you? &*>
The Australian Garden Orb Spider builds enormous and stunningly beautiful "doily" webs in which to trap prey such as this cicada.  Taken with the Minolta handycam, macro mode.

    SQ - these are very handsome spiders indeed an done of our harmless varieties. They are not all that big and this one was only about the size of an Aussie 50c coin...if you circle your finger and thumb together it would fit in that! But webs can be MASSIVE - amazing engineers, spiders.
